How it works

Three steps.
About four minutes.

From signing up to taking your first bid, no setup, no app, no extension. Here is exactly what running a Gavel auction looks like, end to end.

01

Add your lots

Give the room a name. Drop in lots: title, photo, starting bid, optional Buy It Now. Drag to reorder. The room gets a 5-letter code and a share link.

  • Photos, descriptions, condition notes
  • Optional Buy It Now per lot
  • 5-letter room code generated automatically
02

Share the link

Copy the room link and drop it anywhere your buyers hang out. WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook groups, your own site. Or publish it to the public Gavel calendar so new buyers find you.

  • One link works in any browser, no app
  • Followers can RSVP if listed publicly
  • Live watcher count before you start
03

Go live

Open lots one at a time. Bids land in real time with a countdown. Hammer at zero and the next lot rolls. The winner gets an invoice the second the gavel falls.

  • Auto-extending countdown timer
  • One-click hammer to close a lot
  • Stripe invoice fires on hammer
A live room, minute by minute

Here is what hosting actually feels like.

Real beat sheet from sellers running weekly drops. Yours will look similar.

As the host

  1. T minus 1 hour
Final photo edits, set Buy It Now prices, write a one-liner for chat.
  2. T minus 15 min
Open the room early so watchers can join. Pin a welcome message in chat.
  3. T zero
Go live. Open the first lot. Banter in chat while the timer runs.
  4. Lot 1 closes
Hammer. Winning bidder gets an invoice notification. Next lot opens automatically.
  5. Mid-room
Hit Break to pause for a top-of-hour rest. Chat stays open, timer pauses.
  6. Closing lot
Final hammer. Room moves to Wrap. Winners pay through Stripe. You ship.

As a bidder

  1. Tap the link
Buyer lands in the room from your share. Browser only, no app.
  2. Enter name
First-time bidders confirm a name and verified phone. No password.
  3. Watch live
Bid feed updates in real time. Big lots get reactions and chat.
  4. Place a bid
One tap to bid the next valid increment. Or type a higher number.
  5. Outbid
In-room toast and optional push. Tap to top your bid.
  6. Win a lot
Confetti, an invoice in their email, a paid badge in the room when they settle.
